Teaching

In my capacity as Lead for Self-Harm at Alder Hey Hospital, I regularly teach on the assessment and management of self-harm both to CAMHS staff and to the wider medical team, including A&E. Also, in my capacity as Lead for Mental Health Law, I regularly both organise presentations and teach seminars on the use of the Mental Health Law and the use of the Mental Health Capacity Act.

I have been asked to make a number of presentations to professionals and voluntary organisations including:-

• A presentation on “Family Coping Styles” including “Coping Strategies” for families with a child with ASD to ChAPS (Cheshire Asperger’s Parent Support).
• A presentation on “Section 136 of the Mental Health Act” to a national conference of A&E senior doctors at Alder Hey Hospital.
• A presentation on childhood concerns to a professional meeting of GP’s in Windermere.
